About “Home with Cookee”

Home with Cookee began with a simple desire: to teach practical homemaking skills and pass on the biblical wisdom that gives those skills purpose. What started as a small handbook for a few young women gradually grew into books, classes, resources, and a ministry I never could have planned on my own.

Where It Began

I originally planned to create a small handbook to teach young women at our church the basic homemaking skills that too often aren't passed on to younger generations. As I gathered years of class notes, the project kept growing. Each time I prayed, “Lord, what else?” He seemed to show me one more thing to add.

Before long, one handbook had become two books: a study guide to pass on biblical wisdom and practical knowledge, and a toolkit filled with recipes, instructions, and skills for everyday home life.

When I reached the point where I thought the books were finally complete, I prayed, “Lord, what next?” The answer seemed to be, “YouTube.” My first reaction was, “What?! Seriously?” Social media was definitely not part of my plan.

But as I continued to pray, it became clear that I could only teach so many people in person. If these lessons were meant to reach beyond the women I could sit beside and teach myself, Home with Cookee needed to grow beyond the books.

So I took another step of faith—and began building a place where biblical wisdom and practical homemaking skills could be shared with women wherever they are.

As Home with Cookee began to take shape, I realized this story hadn't really started with the books. Looking back, I could see how God had been preparing me for this work for years.

When I taught sewing classes at church, I thought I was simply teaching sewing. When I taught Instant Pot classes to neighbors, friends, and Girl Scout groups, I thought I was just sharing a useful skill. And when I was asked to lead weekly Bible studies for my family, I thought I was simply sharing God's Word in a way they could understand.

But there was no “just” anywhere. Each experience was teaching me how to take something I had learned, make it approachable, and pass it on to someone else.

I couldn't see the whole picture then. Now I can see that God was quietly preparing the pieces long before I knew what Home with Cookee would become.

God is so awesome! Looking back, I can see His hand in every step that brought Home with Cookee to this place. My prayer is that this ministry will encourage women to grow in biblical wisdom, learn practical skills, and faithfully serve the homes and people God has entrusted to them.
